Fujifilm Showcases Performance, Workflow, and Image Quality for Innovative Line-Up at RSNA
This year marks the 90th anniversary for Fujifilm, a company built on film that evolved to supply a range of innovative products and services, including many in the healthcare market. The company’s “game-changing innovation,” says Henry Izawa, President & CEO of FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corp., has expanded to “all aspects of healthcare with the goal of transforming patient care on a global scale,” a mission that is on display in McCormick Place’s South Hall, Booth #4100.
Informatics innovations
Fujifilm is launching several new innovations in its informatics line, including Synapse Viewer eXtension (VX), which is an elective, native PACS application available in version 7.4 and above. Synapse VX was built for resiliency against external environmental variables like browser inefficiency, network latency, and group policy changes to deliver an optimal PACS experience for onsite and remote readers that is centered on speed.
“This application enhances responsiveness to user actions and basically delivers a seamless user experience,” Izawa told Applied Radiology, noting customization for scrolling and subscriptions to multiple unread worklists and the ability to open and access multiple studies effortlessly.
“Our Synapse VX will provide the speed required…to go through studies faster. With enterprise imaging integration…there’s power within the healthcare system to provide comprehensive reporting,” Izawa adds.
Additional enhancements available in Synapse PACS v7.4 include mammography features like the ability to integrate CAD into the workflow, allowing for CAD markers, MQSA compliant overlays, and 3D visualization capabilities designed to help identify areas of interest, leading to higher accuracy and better detection rates.
Izawa also says that shortages of radiologists and technologists require AI-driven innovation to generate necessary efficiencies. That is why the company recently launched the Synapse Worklist Orchestrator, an ancillary PACS solution that uses customer-defined AI algorithms to automate worklist assignments and enhance peer review collaboration.
“The AI-driven Synapse Worklist Orchestrator drives workflow efficiency, reduces provider burnout, and improves clinical potential through its multidimensional peer learning and skills development platform,” explains Izawa, adding that Worklist Orchestrator is scalable, flexible, and supports multiple -ologies across the enterprise.
Equipment highlights
On the equipment side, Fujifilm is highlighting MRI enhancements, updates in CT, DR suites, a compact fluoroscopy C-arm, and a next-generation ultrasound system. The SCENARIA View, a high-performing, 128-slice CT solution with new software capabilities that expand motion correction reconstruction capabilities, will be on display, Izawa reports, with advanced clinical modules for interventional CT, extended coverage shuttle scanning for perfusion exams, cardiac CTA, and dual-energy exams. The FCT iStream CT, a compact system launched earlier this year, will also be at RSNA.
In MRI, the company is showcasing the Aperto Lucent 0.4T permanent magnet system, launched in 2024. The Lucent has a single-pillar open-view design for fewer space requirements and simplified exam access for comfortable patient experiences. Advanced, automated imaging technologies support workflow efficiencies and optimize image quality. The ECHELON Synergy 1.5T large bore system leverages deep learning reconstruction to enhance image sharpness and acquire faster scans. Version 10 innovations that address motion artifacts to prevent retakes will be on display.
“A lot of the AI functions on the Synergy and also in Lucent provide workflow enhancements which are going to be a significant driver in the marketplace to deal with the increase in [imaging] demand,” says Izawa.
In addition, attendees can view new digital radiography suite set-ups including the upgraded FDR Visionary Suite Digital Radiography Room and the FDR Clinical X Floor Stand with Auto Scoliosis Stitching, a compact floor-mounted system with Automated Long-Length Imaging, launching in 2025 pending completion of regulatory requirements. Fujifilm will also highlight new features of its Persona CS Mobile Fluoroscopy System, an advanced c-arm with an 81-cm opening, including an upgraded 5kW generator, and high resolution, 4K, 27-inch surgical viewing monitor with enhanced arm articulation.
In ultrasound, the ARIETTA 750 DeepInsight Ultrasound Machine achieves deep tissue visualization via cognitive technology, efficiently producing high quality images even in challenging regions.
“We're very excited about the innovation we're pumping out into the marketplace to address [the industry’s] chronicle needs that we foresee continuing throughout 2030,” Izawa says.
Giving back
For the second year, Fujifilm will host high school and undergraduate students in its booth in partnership with RSNA and their Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and two Chicago-based organizations.
Fujifilm Group’s Purpose has zeroed in on “giving our world more smiles” to address social needs and create a positive impact on society through products, technology, service, and business operations,” Izawa concludes.
“We have a very strong commitment in healthcare to fulfill our corporate social responsibility through technology evolution and innovation in order to provide tools for our clinical partners to improve patient outcomes. We have a lot of things in the pipeline...to provide those great smiles worldwide.”
