United Imaging Unveils Next-Generation MRI System and Remote Imaging Platform at AHRA 2025
At the 2025 AHRA Conference in Las Vegas, United Imaging introduced two major innovations aimed at expanding access to advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): the uMR Ultra 3T MRI system and the UOmniscan software platform. Together, these technologies are designed to enhance image quality, improve workflow efficiency, and make MRI services more accessible—particularly in settings affected by staffing shortages or geographic limitations.
Fresh off its clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the uMR Ultra offers a leap forward in MRI visualization by capturing body movement during scanning. Unlike traditional systems that produce static images, the new scanner features uAIFI.LIVE, a proprietary capability that enables “dynamic videography”—allowing clinicians to observe motion and other physiological functions in real time. United Imaging likens this upgrade to moving from photography to video, offering a richer and more informative view of the human body during imaging procedures.
Alongside the hardware launch, United Imaging also debuted UOmniscan, a cloud-based software platform that empowers MRI technologists to conduct and guide scans remotely. With multimodality and multisite support, UOmniscan enables technologists to oversee MRI exams across different geographic locations in real time, providing guidance and adjustments as needed.
“Offering multimodality and multisite capabilities, the newly launched uOmniscan software enables MRI technologists to perform and provide real-time guidance for MRI scans done at remote locations,” the company stated. Live demonstrations of UOmniscan are being held at the AHRA conference to showcase its potential.
United Imaging emphasized that UOmniscan could serve as a vital tool in addressing the ongoing shortage of imaging professionals, allowing fewer technologists to support more sites without compromising quality. By enabling remote supervision and participation, the platform opens up the possibility for more equitable MRI access, especially in rural or underserved areas.
Together, uMR Ultra and UOmniscan represent a strategic push toward smarter, more connected imaging infrastructure. By combining cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities with cloud-enabled flexibility, United Imaging aims to not only raise the bar for image quality but also redefine how and where MRI services can be delivered.
These innovations mark a significant step forward for radiology, as the healthcare industry seeks to balance increasing imaging demands with the realities of workforce and resource constraints.
