Carestream has announced the latest update to its Image Suite V4 Software, version MR 11, introducing a range of new features designed to improve diagnostic accuracy, streamline workflow, and enhance both user and patient experience. The upgrade represents a significant step forward for imaging systems used in both Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR), building on the platform’s reputation for efficiency and ease of use.

Image Suite V4 has become a go-to solution for radiology departments and clinics, known for its intuitive interface, specialized measurement tools, and optional mini PACS module. With this latest release, Carestream continues to evolve the software, now incorporating artificial intelligence to generate companion images from a single exposure—helping radiographers make faster, more informed decisions.

“We’re continually focused on improving patient care as well as creating a better user experience,” said Felix Zhang, Worldwide Product Line Manager. “These enhancements make it easier for radiographers to diagnose with confidence—and patients benefit from a higher standard of care.”

Among the new features aimed at improving diagnostic confidence:

  • Bone Suppression: Automatically creates a companion image that suppresses bone structures to better reveal soft tissue.

  • Pneumothorax Visualization: Generates a companion image to highlight the presence of free air in the chest cavity.

  • SmartGrid Technology: Reduces scatter radiation, allowing for lower patient dose and more efficient workflows.

  • Enhanced Tube and Line Visualization: Companion images provide clearer views of PICC lines and tubes, aiding in accurate placement and assessment.

To further improve the user and patient experience, the update also includes:

  • Cross-System Detector Sharing: Allows users to share Focus or Focus HD Detectors between different Image Suite systems, increasing flexibility and resource utilization.

  • Customizable Image Styles: Users can now select from four premium processing "looks" and set a default based on their personal preferences, making it easier to read images the way they prefer.

Carestream’s commitment to innovation and usability is evident in these new capabilities, which blend advanced AI-driven tools with practical workflow improvements.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how our customers—and their patients—benefit from faster, precise diagnoses, and an easier, more confident workflow,” added Zhang.

With the MR 11 update, Image Suite V4 continues to raise the bar in radiographic imaging, offering providers new ways to increase efficiency, reduce patient exposure, and improve the clarity of clinical findings.
