Avicenna.AI, a leading medical imaging AI company, has secured CE Mark certification for two new spine-focused tools: CINA-VCF Quantix and CINA-CSpine. The certifications permit their use across the European Economic Area, signifying adherence to strict European Union health and safety standards.

CINA-VCF Quantix is designed to detect and evaluate vertebral compression fractures (VCFs), which often go unnoticed during routine CT scans for unrelated conditions. This AI tool focuses on patients aged 50 and older undergoing chest or abdominal CT exams. It automatically identifies vertebrae and calculates vertebral height loss ratios in the thoracic and lumbar spine. When height loss exceeds 20–25%, the software triggers a passive alert for radiologists, encouraging early reporting and preventive care.

“Osteoporotic vertebral fractures can have a profound impact on patients' quality of life,” said Cyril Di Grandi, co-founder and CEO of Avicenna.AI. “The launch of CINA-VCF Quantix in Europe represents a major step forward in preventive care, empowering clinicians to intervene before minor fractures escalate.”

Each year, roughly 750,000 U.S. adults experience osteoporotic VCFs, yet nearly two-thirds go undiagnosed—potentially leading to severe complications such as chronic pain and deformity. Avicenna.AI aims to close this diagnostic gap through automated, early detection.

Meanwhile, CINA-CSpine targets acute cervical spine fractures, which commonly result from traumatic injuries. These fractures can cause serious consequences if the spinal cord is involved, including paralysis. The AI system swiftly flags potential fractures in CT images, integrating with radiologists’ existing platforms for immediate triage and accelerated treatment.

“The launch of CINA-CSpine in the European market marks a significant step forward in trauma care,” said Di Grandi. “By reducing the time between scan and diagnosis, we're helping radiologists catch cervical spine fractures faster and more reliably — a crucial advance when every minute counts.”

Both tools are designed to blend seamlessly into clinical workflows, automatically initiating and reporting findings through systems already used by radiology teams.

Avicenna.AI’s broader suite of AI solutions also includes tools for detecting:

  • Intracranial hemorrhage (CINA-ICH)

  • Large vessel occlusion (CINA-LVO)

  • Aortic dissection (CINA-AD)

  • Pulmonary embolism (CINA-PE and CINA-iPE)

  • Stroke severity quantification (CINA-ASPECTS)

With the addition of CINA-VCF Quantix and CINA-CSpine, the company continues its mission to enhance radiology with AI, improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes across a range of critical conditions.
