Philips launches IntraSight interventional applications platform

Royal Philips of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, announced its launch of the IntraSight interventional applications platform, which offers a suite of clinically proven physiology, imaging, and co-registration tools to simplify complex interventions and speed routine procedures.

Philips IntraSight optimizes lab performance with tableside touchscreen control, systems integration, data management, and remote service diagnostics. The combination of IntraSight and the Philips Azurion image-guided therapy platform is designed to enable clinicians to provide cardiac and peripheral vascular patients with superior care, according to the company. Philips said it has designed the IntraSight user interface to minimize learning curves and to help increase workflow confidence.

In image-guided treatments of the heart and peripheral blood vessels, there is an increasing trend to use advanced catheters and pressure wires that are capable of producing ultrasound images of the interior of blood vessels (intravascular ultrasound or IVUS) and perform blood pressure measurements (fractional flow reserve or FFR and instant wave free ratio or iFR), Royal Philips stated in a press release. The company also referenced a growing body of clinical evidence that the use of such technologies in conjunction with interventional X-ray improves patient outcomes.
