Philips integrated breast ultrasound solution debuted

By Staff News Brief

Royal Philips has introduced an “all-in-one breast ultrasound solution” for its EPIQ and Affiniti ultrasound systems with anatomical intelligence software and its eL 18-4 transducer. This solution, designed to help clinicians efficiently assess, monitor, and treat breast diseases, is CE marked and has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The Philips' integrated breast solution combines four features that work seamlessly together for comprehensive and confident screening and diagnosis. These include:

  • The PureWave eL18-4 ultra-broadband linear array transducer, a single transducer that delivers high-quality imaging, including patients who may be more technically challenging to image. PureWave crystal technology delivers fine-elevation focusing to provide detail resolution and tissue uniformity, as well as extended depth of field performance.
  • Anatomical intelligence for breast software, which enhances reproducibility and streamlines workflow while preserving image quality during the breast exam. The software provides visual mapping and annotation of screened anatomy with minimal user interaction.
  • ElastQ Imaging shear wave and strain elastography allows clinicians to rapidly assess a wide array of breast lesions. In combining both wave methods, ElastQ Imaging reveals more definitive information on tissue stiffness in the breast.
  • New precision biopsy allows physicians to performing more targeted biopsies, thorough educed blind zones and enhanced needle reflections during interventional procedures.
