Hitachi Medical Systems Europe introduced new automated US scanning function at ECR 2018

Hitachi Medical Systems Europe introduced ScanSync, a function that allows automatic ultrasound scanning through the control of transducer movement at the 2018 European Congress of Radiology held in Vienna in March. SyncScan is supported on Hitachi’s ARIETTA Prologue diagnostic ultrasound system.

ScanSync auto-detects transducer movement to freeze, store, and restart real-time image display from a frozen image. This capability enables a sonographer to acquire a desired still image without adopting a strained or unnatural posture, even if the ultrasound control panel cannot be reached or if both hands of the sonographer are fully occupied. This helps reduce the physical burden placed on operators while streamlining workflow, according to the company.

ScanSync analyzes images in real-time and detects transducer movements automatically through a newly developed image recognition technology. Hitachi Medical Systems Europe stated that it expects ScanSync to be used in orthopedics applications, for lower limb vessel examinations, and for echo-guided biopsy for breast and thyroid.
