Carestream Showcases Entire Portfolio at RSNA With Focus on Image Quality and Growth of Workflow Solutions

Carestream Health, based in Rochester, NY, has always prioritized image quality. With a reputation well established in the industry, RSNA booth representatives are prepared to discuss healthcare’s ongoing stabilization in a post-pandemic environment, and how its solutions—including software features powered by AI—are growing to best meet users’ evolving needs.

“Capital budgets continue to be a challenge, and we want to make sure that we listen to our customers and really develop solutions that help solve those problems now and into the future as we grow with them,” Kendall Ryerson, Vice President of Sales for North America for Carestream, told Applied Radiology.

Their solutions help alleviate staff burnout, improve patient care, optimize radiation dose, and enhance workflows, highlighted in Carestream’s North Hall Booth, #7323.

“We have something….for every budget, every size facility—from large academic teaching facilities on down to your chiropractic clinics, veterinarians, and everything in between,” Ryerson says. “We have a wide array of customizable solutions that can fit anybody’s needs and budgets as the healthcare landscape continues to change.”

“We’re really focusing on delivering high-value products to our customers,” says Todd Clegg, CEO of Carestream Health, who notes that the company’s quality metrics have been the highest in more than five years, demonstrated by improved performance and strong relationships with its customers.

Solutions on display

Ryerson explains that Carestream’s whole host of DR products—including a variety of detector sizes and solutions, along with X-ray rooms, mobiles, and retrofits—are on display at RSNA, boasting new hardware and software enhancements and AI-driven technology. A station dedicated to Carestream’s service offerings can also be found at the show where attendees can explore offerings that can be tailored to fit budget and needs.

“We’re bringing everything from our DRX-Excel Plus [fluoroscopy] room…all the way to our more value tier products like our DRX-Rise portable and our Horizon room,” Ryerson says. “We know there’s not going to be a one-size-fits-all solution, especially in [this]… healthcare environment.”

Highlights include:

  • DRX-Evolution Plus Digital Radiography System, their flagship X-Ray room, has a modular design to fit various spaces, workflows, and budgets.
  • DRX-Compass X-ray System has a selection of advanced features and options to improve workflow efficiencies.
  • HORIZON X-ray System is a simple, affordable analog X-ray system.
  • DRX-Excel Plus System combines general radiography and fluoroscopy exams in one system.
  • The DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System, a leader in mobile X-ray, continues to redefine portable imaging with advanced features and performance.
  • DRX-Rise Mobile X-ray System makes the benefits of mobile DR easily accessible in a fully integrated unit.
  • ImageView 2.1 Software helps deliver more productivity with the DR portfolio.
  • Image Suite MR 10 Software seamlessly captures high-quality images for CR and DR systems.
  • DRX-LC Detectorcaptures long-length images of legs or spine in pediatrics or trauma in a single exposure.

Carestream is also showcasing a number of DR detector options in a variety of sizes, including lightweight, glass-free Lux 35 and the latest evolution of the world’s first cassette-sized detector, the DRX Plus, also available in small format. They offer a variety of DR Retrofit Solutions that seamlessly convert existing imaging equipment, including both room and mobile systems, to full digital operation.

Solutions on display also feature enhanced image clarity for improved readability and tools like the Smart Noise Cancellation Option and Smart Room—both AI-based—to enhance workflow and decrease the number of potential repeats.

“We've always thought of ourselves as leaders in image quality and technology, but now also adding in that workflow element and AI for automation, we continue to invest in AI capabilities that will help enhance customer workflow efficiency,” says Clegg, adding that current staffing shortages are forcing providers to “do more with less.”

Support and vision

Carestream Health also sponsored the Radiology podcast, AI in Radiology: Transforming Workflows & Efficiency ahead of the annual meeting. Linda Chu, MD, Associate Professor in Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Radiology and Radiological Science speaks with Aashim Bhatia, MD, MS, pediatric neuroradiologist with the Department of Radiology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Eric Selvin Smith, Carestream Health Product Marketing Manager, about AI’s impact in radiology. The experts explore how the latest innovations in AI enhance efficiency for clinicians and future AI directions.

As a customer-centric organization, Carestream continues to focus on evolving wants and needs in medical imaging, says Clegg, who says company representatives recently met with a customer advisory team and most look forward to connecting with customers and partners at RSNA. With their manufacturing base in New York, he says that “hearing that voice” is integral to success.

“We’re close to U.S. customers, the largest market in our DR business… [which] allows us an advantage,” says Clegg, in empowering clinicians, partners, and patients.

“It’s exciting to be with a company that can really listen deeply to our customers, partner with them, and grow with them in meaningful ways,” Kendall concludes.
